The Force Is Strong In These Funny Star Wars Memes

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on Thursday. They're called memes, Padawan, and the Dark Side has plenty of them waiting for you. Star Wars memes are classic. Decoded: Star Wars is made up of seven movies, but it started as a trilogy first released in 1977 (A New Hope), 1980 (The Empire Strikes Back), and 1983 (Return Of The Jedi).

The stormtroopers alone could've dominated this list with their incomprehensibly shoddy aim or the similarly incompetent battle droids that somehow kept showing up after Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. So, thanks Mark Hamill, because you make the funniest Star Wars memes even better.

Some people would say the possibility of George Lucas never deciding to make the movies or something like that. His quotes have also been particularly popular, from the rambling, off-topic anecdote about the ‘ Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise ' and similarly inoffensive memes speculating about his real name , to more problematic fare.

Of course, with the unprecedentedly polarizing Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, fans are more split than ever on the fate of the Star Wars franchise. The memes' popularity in part stems from the fact that the Star Wars prequels are generally considered to be ‘bad' movies.

Either way, the most intriguing mystery we got on this last Star Wars movie was the identity of Rey. Brought back to the forefront in the closing moments of the fight at the core of Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan screams at Anakin that he was supposed to be the chosen one.
